Founded in 1968, JASA is one of New York’s largest and most trusted agencies serving older adults in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. JASA provides life sustaining programs for older adults and peace of mind for their families and friends using a client-centered approach and a focus on helping older people stay in their own homes with dignity and autonomy. JASA serves over 40,000 clients each year through its well-developed continuum of programs offered at more than 50 local sites across the New York metropolitan area, as well as in the homes of older adults. Programs include 22 senior centers and 14 Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs); three home-delivered meals programs; five case management programs; elder abuse and caregiver programs; legal services in Queens; and NY Connects in Brooklyn. JASA also owns and manages subsidized housing for nearly 2,300 New Yorkers who qualify as low- to moderate-income and/or disabled individuals.
In addition, JASACare is a New York State Department of Health-licensed agency providing home health aide, personal care assistance, and nursing services to older adults and their families. JASA also maintains a New York State-licensed outpatient mental health clinic in the Bronx as well as a clubhouse model for older people in the Bronx and Brooklyn and PEARLS in the Bronx. JASA has experience providing evidence-based services including falls prevention programs (Matter of Balance, Tai Chi for Arthritis, and SAIL), Chronic Disease Self-Management and Care Transitions programs.
