SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) older adults. Founded in 1978 and based in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources to LGBT older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBT older people, provides education and technical assistance for aging providers and LGBT organizations, and cultural competence training.
SAGE in NYC: SAGE was founded in New York City and has strong ties to our community across all five boroughs. SAGE also offers unique programs and services for LGBT older adults – Our SAGE Centers offer a number of social activities and programs for LGBT older people in Manhattan, Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Besides offering congregate meal service, SAGE Centers provide health and wellness programs, discussion groups, entertainment, and more!
